Canadian General Investments

Focussed on Long-Term Growth and Income

A closed-end equity fund focussed on medium to long-term capital appreciation and dividends in Canadian corporations, Canadian General Investments, Limited (CGI) was established in 1930 and has been managed since 1956 by Morgan Meighen & Associates (see our Heritage).

For the 50 years to December 2023, a $10,000 investment in CGI would have grown to almost $2.3 million, representing a compound average annual return of 11.5%, versus the S&P/TSX Composite Index benchmark results of $831,000 and 9.2% respectively over the same period.  This information, including the investment growth rate and rate of return, assumes an increase in share price plus reinvestment of all distributions and is no assurance or indicator of future returns.  Share price, net asset values and investment returns will fluctuate.
